Introduction to Skin and Sunless Tanning
Sunless tanning has been identified as one of the fastest growing trends in indoor tanning. Our exclusive Liquid Sun spray tan offers an organic ingredient (DHA) that gradually fades and gives a natural-looking tan without streaking, odors or orange tint.
What Is DHA And How Safe Is It?
DHA is dihydroxyacetone, a carbohydrate (monosaccharide sugar) compound approved by the FDA for use in externally applied sunless tanning solutions. DHA is usually derived from a vegetable source like beets or sugar cane. Its properties as a skin darkener were discovered in the 1920's but weren't marketed as such until the1960's when Coppertone approved cosmetic ingredients in the 1970's. DHA is the tanning ingredient used in self-tanning solutions that has produced more than 2 million sunless tans with no documented reports of adverse effects. The tanning industry recognizes DHA as the colorless sugar that makes the magic happen in the self tanning process. DHA reacts with skin proteins, including amino acids, in the outermost layer of the skin. The reaction develops brown skin coloring that looks very similar to a natural tan. Skin coloration takes anywhere from two to four hours to develop and lasts approximately 4 to 7 days. This depends on the skin type, the DHA concentration and the preparation to the skin prior to spraying. The tan fades as the dead layers of skin slough off, just as in a normal tan.
Is It Safe To Ingest DHA?
While no one should purposely swallow any form of sunless solution, DHA is a non-hazardous compound and causes no adverse reaction in the quantities found in most tanning solutions. DHA has been used as a dietary supplement in sports nutrition and it is non-carcinogenic. Testing has further shown that DHA is less toxic than aspirin, caffeine, and even common table salt.
How Safe Is It To Inhale Liquid Sun
Tanning Solution?
DHA has a health risk rating of "0-Minimal" and is not considered a toxic material. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established "Permissible Exposure Limits" (PEL) ratings that represent the allowable airborne concentration of a toxic material, to which an employee can be exposed during an 8-hour shift without personal respirators
About Liquid Sun
We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with chemicals; but modern-day beauty culture is embracing organic, chemical free alternatives.  I strongly believe that what you put onto your body is as important as what you put into it.  I researched and found that the average adult uses 9 personal care products daily, exposing them to 126 chemicals every day.  It is a medically recognized fact that our body absorbs significant amounts of what we put on our skin.  With one third of all personal care products containing possible carcinogens, why should we accept this for our skin?

All of LiquidSun products contain:

·          All natural and organic ingredients
·          No petro-chemicals, mineral oils, parabens
